Laura & Mark’s Romantic Cheshire Wedding…
A magical celebration, filled with family and friends. We take a peek inside Laura and Mark’s dreamy Delamere Manor wedding day…
After meeting in a bar back in 2013 Laura and Mark have been inseparable.
We were both just out drinking with friends, I recognised Mark at the bar as I knew his Mum; he bought me a drink and that was it. We just clicked and we’ve never been apart since.
A few years later, Mark whisked Laura off on a surprise birthday weekend in The Lakes. ‘We were having a lovely chilled weekend with our gorgeous dog Milo and then Mark surprised me! He actually proposed at the Inn on The Lake in Ulleswater – I was so shocked I forgot to speak, so Mark had to remind me to answer the question! Of course I said ‘yes’; it was the perfect proposal.’
When the couple started looking for a venue they knew they wanted somewhere different and unique, but also somewhere that felt homely. ‘We had looked at quite a few venues then one of our wedding suppliers told us about Delamere Manor. She said it was a hidden gem and she wasn’t wrong!
“The moment we stepped inside the stunning estate we felt really at home – completely relaxed and just lost in it’s beautiful surroundings,’ said Laura. ‘It’s such an incredible venue and our guests were just stunned.
“We didn’t have a particular theme but we did include hints of our favourite things throughout the day. The string quartet played Beauty and The Beast – Tale As Old As Time, as I walked down the aisle, Beyoncé for the bridesmaids and Game of Thrones as we left the ceremony as man and wife. Our seating plan included the sorting hat from Harry Potter and the invites had a tiny bit of Disney magic (designed by Gorgeous Invites).”
“I think I had the best bridesmaids EVER,’ said Laura. ‘My best friend Tara was my maid of honour along with my other best friend Jodie and my sister in law’s Ashleigh and Lauren. These girls were just amazing! They planned the most incredible hen do in Brussels and a local one too! They treated me to an amazing spa day and made me a Spice Girls themed video which brought me to tears! They were fabulous from start to finish. They absolutely made my day and it was a privilege to have them by my side.”
“Our hair and make-up was unbelievable, myself, my bridesmaids and my mum felt a million dollars. Our glam squad were Vicky, Anna and Charlotte from Bridal Hair and Make Up of Cheshire; the dream team! They were amazing, so professional, friendly, helpful and above all very skilled! I literally cannot praise them enough.”
My dress was from Maria Modes (stunning bridal shop in Macclesfield) it was by Pronovias, Privee Collection, paid for by my parents which was such a lovely gesture. I’d tried about 8 dresses on before this and it blew me away! The 10ft train was unbelievable and so stunning. I felt like a princess. The guests were completely wowed by it and I loved it so much! My little boy cried when I took it off bless him. He said he wanted me to wear it all the time!
“The boys all wore suits from Cheshire Menswear (part of Maria Modes) Navy blue with tweed waistcoats and bow ties. They all Looked amazing and so handsome. Our little boy Stanley, age 3, wore the same suit and just stole the show! Best man was Matt who is Marks best friend. Groomsman were brides brother Adam and Mark’s best mates Nathan and Tom. Both dads Ewart (my dad) and Alan (Mark’s dad) wore suits too. I’ve never seen them all look so dapper.”
“We went all out with our food choices on the day. We wanted our guests to be well fed and watered and also weave in some of our favourite dishes. We started with canapés – Thai peppered beef, mini Yorkshire pudding with beef, southern fried chicken with blue cheese dip and halloumi with mango salad. Our wedding breakfast consisted of starter- goats cheese tartlet followed by a main course of chicken, leek and ham pie with mash and seasonal veg topped off with a trio of indulgent desserts which included chocolate orange cheesecake, bread and butter pudding and strawberry & custard tartlet.
“Night time was tray service – mini beef, mini pulled pork and mini Cajun chicken burgers. Halloumi fires, mac and cheese. A total feast!
“All of the catering was done by Cheeky Chilli, Delamere’s in-house catering team, who were just outstanding! Beautiful food and amazing service! At night we had a cheesecake from The Cheeseyard, Knutsford with cheddar, Stilton, goats cheese, Cornish Yarg and Delice Cremiere – crackers and chutney too. We also had personalised cocktails named after the bridesmaids. The Jodie Bramble, Tara-Tini, Absolute Ashleigh and Lemon Loz Fizz.
“I never thought that the food would make such an impact but it really did make the day.”
“All of our suppliers were incredible, the day was just so perfect! Delamere was outstanding, the staff worked so hard and made our day so perfect.
“Flowers on the table were by The Blossom Company. Izzy was amazing. We had silk instead of fresh and they looked stunning. Bouquets and button holes were by Amy at The Enchanted Florist, she is an old school friend of mine and a local business – she really did us proud.
“We tried to add a few fun touches for our evening reception. Along with Tim Gallagher, who was in the final of The Voice, DJ andy Critchlow (DJ Aroxx) kept the dance floor buzzing all night and we had the Wish Upon A Sparkle Team who used body glitter to decorate all our guest’s faces and bodies! They were ace and so different.
Perfect Day & Magical Night
“The reception was so unique. The ‘secret’ night club added a bit of something special to the night and it really impressed our guests. It was such a magical day from start to finish – can we do it all again please!
“We haven’t booked a honeymoon yet but on the morning of the wedding Mark surprised me with a trip for the three of us to Disneyland Paris. We are thinking about Italy or New York for our big trip but are still undecided. Nothing will top our big day though. It was stunning, unique and super-relaxed – just the way we wanted it and we wouldn’t change a thing.”
